Ok i have a 62"Blacktail Elite TD Recurve 60#@27
cut 3/16 past centre using 12 strand D97 Also have a 62" Black Feather TD Hybrid Style Long Bow 58# @27 cut just short of centre 16 Strand fast flight but will be trying a skinny style of string on both bows. Was hoping to try to get the same arrows to suit both bows,I know this might not be possible. These arrows would only be used for traditional club shoot as they require wood arrows only to be used, for hunting i would probably stick with carbons. Some of the people i have spoken to suggested a spine of around between 70# & 80# Hence i choose 75# to start with & progress from there.I Have been told it can be pretty hard to get good shafts in the higher poundage spines with some timber species in 11/32 size & this is the size i prefer if possible with a tapered nock end to 5/16.The reason for this is i was hoping not to have to move the nocking point on the string to much between the woods & carbons,I know it's a big ask.I thought about making them myself but it's almost impossible to get Tapered shafts here in the spine & size i was wanting to try,So if i am going to pay to the higher costs of importing them from the USA (my guess is around $30-$40) i might as well Have them made up by a professional that knows what they are doing as the freight cost won't be much more as the weight difference will be minimal. So if anyone can give some guidance on which wood species & wether laminated or hex type shafts would best suit this application,as i assume some would be more forgiving than others & a builder that uses the suggested material as not all builders use all materials.I would appreciate any help from anyone with experience on wood shafts as i know very little about it & if i'm trying to do the impossible let me know.
