not the best picture but you get the idea.  I've been looking for this guys sheds for a while, no wonder I haven't found them.  This is pretty late for a deer to still have horns here in norh central washington.

I agree to much 1/4 away for me to shoot.  I had some near chances on this guy this past season, at this point I don't regret not killing him though.  can't wait to see him next year.

Anybody have any good ideas on why some bucks hang on to their headgear so much longer than others.  I can see how big antlers would tend to fall of sooner, but this guy isn't exactly mini.....

Hey where in the Methow are you.  I spent my youth hunting Winthrop and Twisp areas and then over the other side of Loop Loop.

Used to be some great mulies out there.

Whitetails are a new thing.

I've always heard it had to to with nutrition.

In years where we've had a bad drought, with little or no acorn crop, I've found sheds as early as mid december.  In some years, like this year, where we've had a lot of rain, plenty of grass and a good acorn crop, deer commonly have their headgear up until April.  Could just be coincidence, though...

Hey Mike,  I live in carlton, about 10 miles south of twisp.  I've lived in both Twisp and Winthrop too though.  There is still a great mule deer herd here, but unfortunately it's probably not what you remember, and the whitetails are definately becoming dominant on the valley floor and riparian areas.  Actually now we're seeing them way up in the shrubbe-steppe.  things do change.... it's still agreat place to live though.

Not sure either. I once found very nice shed early March in Delaware, but have seen decent racks still on into April.  Hope you cross paths with him next year with bow in hand.
