Tanning Beavertails,Help!

I have home tanned deer,elk,racoon,etc.,and am having trouble getting beavertails to come out like commercially tanned ones that ive seen.I salted them,then used aluminum sulfate for my tanning pickle and so far have them turn out like thick snake skins.Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Chanumpa

I have tried many times and could never get them soft.  Do you know of a commercial tanner?

Are they well preserved though? The reason I ask is I just got one from a trapper and I want to preserve it for a classroom display. Where do you get aluminum sulfate?

Sometimes mineral oil on the skin side helps soften it but that is the easy way out. If someone recomends a better way with better results use their advice.
