TBOF SPRING SHOOT
« on: March 08, 2010, 11:19:00 AM »
Good Morning Everyone! I made the 3 hour drive down to Ocala for the TBOF Spring Shoot and thought I would update all the Tradgang memebers on what a great weekend event this was! First off this was my first real bow shoot in over 12 years so I had little expectations  going into this event! What I was really looking forward to was getting to meet and great some quality folks who love shooting there traditional bows!

Somehow I rolled in about 8:45pm to a very quiet camp site and with my truck lights I scaned the area looking for a place to pitch my poor old 4-man tent. I was blown away as folks started coming out of there dark tents and offereing to help me with my tent set-up. Wow what service!!  I really never expected that! After my tent was set up I went looking for the big bon-fire I passed coming into the camp grounds! Wow was I impressed! A bunch of guys and gals were sitting around the big fire and a talanted guy from Montana (Mark ???-sorry I did not find out his last name) was playing his guitar and singing. Dang was he good! I was standing and talking to this tall man and we were having a good conversation and it ended up being Monty Browning! After I found out who it was, man did we have some fun telling Joey Buchanan stories!!LOL!!

Shoot started Saturday moring and we had till 4:00pm to shoot 40 different targets on two different ranges. I was not up on all the scoring along with the multiple score cards so I left that up to "Those In The Know" as they say! I guess you could say that I was the arrow puller and they took care of all the math skills! LOL!!

On Saturday evening I took a much needed shower and went to the Sold Out TBOF banquet. I went looking for my pre-paid banquet ticket and raffel tickets. Man did I get the pouty face real quick when they said my name was not on the list!! Greg Dudley came to my rescue and I was in and a happy camper!! The food was great, the crowd was big, and Monty Browning was very intertaining as expected!! My favorite stories were of him chasing after Cape Buffalo and Joey Buchanan snoring on a Swan Hunt. Evidently he was so loud no one could sleep!! Monty also tried to describe Joey's cute sleeping atire but I will leave that to someone else to tell!! Sorry Joey but you do snore loudly!!

After Mr. Browning speech, they had a drawing for a couple of great bows that were being donated. One was a Big Jim bow and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the other donated bow, sorry! There was also a great hand-made knife and other great items that were donated and raffled off! Believe me, a good time was had by all!

Got up Sunday morning and started a fire!! Man  was it cold!!! Got warmed up fast and man did that fire attracted alot of cold bodies. Got dressed and went to shoot some arrows in  prepration of a shotgun start later that morning!! Man were my fingers sore! That had to be the most arrows I had shot in one day for some time.  We shot the next 20 targets and then we all went back inside for the awards presentation and more riffle ticket items! I got lucky and won a deer drag harness that I hope to put to good use down in Arcadia hunting hogs next weekend!

All I can say was fun was had by all!  :wavey:

Thanks to all the vendors who showed up with there wonderful bows and supplies as it is allways fun looking and playing with all the new stuff!!   :D

The Black Widow guys were there with there nomral PMA and PSA bows along with about 8/10 of the PCH bows. The PCH bows are the reason my darn fingers hurt so much!! I just could not put that bow down! Wow is all I can say!! The 58" and 60" lengh bows at my 29 1/2 draw just smoked an arrow at 45-50lbs!    :notworthy:
