4 fletch jigs
« on: March 08, 2010, 04:19:00 PM »
OK I was told there was no such thing as a stupid question so here goes.

Are there 4 fletch jigs or are the bitzenbergers adjustable to be made into 4 fletch  jigs.  If so how can that be done.

I use a Bitz for mine. Look where the nock receiver goes and you will see 3 allen set screws. The first I believe is for 3 fletch. The next 2 are for 2 different 4 fletch configurations.

Good luck.

Lechwe is correct.  The first screw is for 120 degrees, for three fletch, the 2nd is for 90 degree 4 fletch and the 3rd is for 75x105 degree 4 fletch

Most fletching jigs will do 4-fletch, including the Bitz, J-8, Bohning, JoJan, and most of the similar types.  There are a few that do 3 fletch only, including the early Bitz.

I have 2 early Bitz's.  Where can I find out if they can do 4 fletch?

Look at the boss around the nock indexer, Charlie.  The old Bitz just has a little brass plug; the later models have 3 set screws used to select 120, 90, or 75-105 degrees.

Look at the new BearPaw jig with a click of a switch you can go from 3 fletch to 4 fletch to 6 fletch. And they are cheaper than the Bitz.

Yeah the Bearpaw is a nice one! I really like the way you go from 3, 4, or 6 fletch with the click of a. Button! It is also very well built and a great price as well!

I looked at the Bear Paw at K'zoo.  Seemed like a good unit, altho I don't think they have any optional indexers for it, yet.  Sometimes I need to do 3 fletch with the cock feather at 12 o'clock and my Bitz jigs will do that.

It's mostly plastic and made in China, too.
