Ideas for ACS limbs
« on: March 11, 2010, 09:35:00 PM »
Hey guys,  I have a set of ACS CX limbs that have seen some use from hunting.  I was wanting to class them up a little.  I have thought about either getting them dipped or having snake skins put on.  If you have any ideas let's hear them.  Thanks, Cade.

I have been wanting to dip one.  Only problem is I can't decide what pattern to got with.  I can't do the all camo.  If you were to get a set of limbs dipped what would you go with?  Limbs will go on a wood riser.

Wood riser = skins

Metal riser = dipped

Cade,

I am thinking about getting a set of winex limbs done in the black carbon fiber pattern to go with a Morrison ILF riser that is Charcoal Dymondwood. Talked to BigJim today and he plans to have a sample at our shoot Saturday.

Take a look at it on his web site.

I know it is not what you asked, but I would leave them be.  Nothing like hard earned dings/scratches to give a bow some character.

I would call Larry & Dan at A & H and ask their opinion.

What kind of wood is the riser? A pic or two would help with the decision.

For what you would spend on skins or film dip, you could probably have the entire bow refinished, certainly just the limbs.  If it were me, that's probably the route I'd go.

carbon dip would look modern, skins old school, or predator green would just look awesome.

A.S. those look awesome!  Cherokee Scout, I like how those are dipped.

Does anyone know when you skin limbs, is the finish put on just the skins or the whole limb?

I knew you guys would have some great ideas!

Here's a great tutorial for doing your own skin job. It was surprisingly easy, and I was impressed with my end result.

Oh yeah, I rubbed on 4 or 5 coats of Tru-Oil on the skins, then sprayed a couple light coats of Krylon Matte finish to cut down on the shine.
