Do you believe in the Turkey Fairy?
« on: April 24, 2007, 05:48:00 PM »
I do!  Look what the turkey fairy brought...not 1, 2, 3 or 4 sets, but FIVE sets of turkey wings. Woo-ho! Have a friend who gets together with his father and two uncles to hunt turkeys for a couple of weeks. Finally thought to ask him for the wings and they delivered. Hopefully an annual delivery. Steve

How should the Extra Wings be Stored until you get ready to "Pluck 'Em"? That is a BUNCH O' Feathers, WOW!!

I hope you have some teeth left!     :bigsmyl:   You must have a big pillow to find those under it   :D     Lots of fletchings out of that bunch. Very cool! Cheers, Matt

I cut em off with wire cutters and dust some borax in the bags to keep the bugs at bay.

Adding Borax is a VERY good idea.  I had an entire large box of nice wing feathers ruined by the bugs!  And yes, I DO believe in the turkey fairy, Steve.

You have both primaries and secondaries there, try and separate them into 4 bags..LW primaries..RW primaries..LW seconds..RW seconds

Here's how to identify them if you've already cut them from the wing butts. Notice the curve in the quill.

All can be used for making arrows but primaries are a littel better, and you can't use LW and RW on the same arrow but you can make up LW arrows and RW arrows. Just can't use the same clamp.

Goods trade materials.Don't forget the bones for wing bone calls. Yep, a lot of work. LOL
