Deflection of TRADITIONAL ONLY arrows
« on: March 15, 2010, 03:35:00 PM »
I am trying to figure out the deflection of the Traditional Only 400 and 500 arrows and how they compare to a Carbon Express heritage 150 and 250?

I just went from the Heritage 350 to the Traditional 400's. Enough of a difference that I don't get the wiggle I was getting with the 350's.

Sorry I can't answer your question but Pops did already anyway 8-)

Biggie, The Carbon Express 350 has a deflection of .260 and that would mean the Tradional Only arrow is at .400 that is a huge spread. I am wondering if the Tradional Only arrow really has a deflection of .400? The deflection of the Carbon Express 350 is at 26" is that also the way the Tradional Only arrow is getting its deflection of .400?

As per the Carbon Express web site, their Heritage shafts have the following deflections:

90 = .530
150 = .487
250 = .373
350 = .320

  http://www.carbonexpressarrows.com/cms/node/75

“Traditional Only” shafts, which are relabeled Beman ICS Classics, have whatever deflection the model number shows (ex. 400 = .400, 340 = .340 etc.).

All of these deflections are at 28" with a 1.94# weight, as per ATA specs.

OK the chart I am looking at is based at 26" for the carbon Express arrows and they are as follows
 90= .410
150= .375
250= .300
350= .260

 How do we know the Tradional Only arrows are at 28" and not 26" ? Is it standard to measure at 28"?

In the back of the Black Widow owners manual is were I am getting my information on the deflection and it is based on 26" .

28" with a 1.94# weight is an ATA standard for the measurement of carbon shafting.  26" is for measuring wood.

Anybody know why the heck they did that?
Maybe to get us to buy a bunch of shafts because we don't know how they were calibrated?   :saywhat:

Every time I learn something, they change it!   :banghead:

Since Carbonwoods are no long made, and was shooting the 3000s, anyone know their deflection and/or what of the Traditional Onlys are comparable?

Thanx

Killdeer, that's how Easton spines their arrows and that's who makes the TradOnly series.  Kinda like how Gold Tip says 5575, 7595 etc.  Just their thang.

Zbone, What are you shooting for a bow and how much weight? What draw length? How heavey do you want the arrow to finish up at as far as over all weight goes?

Z, The closest to the 3000's would be 400's...but they'll be a heavier arrow.

Thanx Guru

Bahrzoo - I shoot different weights of bows and points, was looking for the same spine deflection of a Traditional Only compared to a Carbonwood 3000 at 28".

Thanx

Oops, forgot to ask, what is the outside diameter of the Traditional Only 400s, and will my Vapor Carbonwood 3000 inserts and nocks fit these shafts?

Thanx
