Questions about Grizzly El Grande

Hi!
I have bought some grizzly El Grande 250 grains I`m planning to use for some hunting this year and have some questions:

Anybody have some experiences with these BH?

I am also wondering about bloodtrails with BH.

I didn't know that either      :eek:      I shoot the Grizzly El Grande 190 with a 100 gr steel adapter. I like the heads alot, but in my experience theres no "gaurentee" how the bloodtrail will be. There seems to be no "magic" head that gives you a great bloodtrail 100% of the time.
I shot a doe last year with the Grizzly and the bloodtrail was good..BUT theres nothing saying that the next deer I shoot with them the bloodtrail won't be so hot. They are tough heads, but I believe the most important thing is how sharp they are, and your shot placement, no matter what head you decide to go with. I had Ron at KME sharpen them, and I give Ron the credit on the quality of my bloodtrail. Boy, he does a GREAT job sharpening heads.IMO

I just bought a KME sharpener and are starting to get them real sharp      

I use 100 Premium Steel Broadhead Adapters and 150 bh so total is 250 grains.

The reason I asked about the blood trail is that I did measure the cut thru a paper and it was 1 1/4 inch and that it might easier close or the under skin fat(adipose tissue) would plug it easier. Just a thought I`ve never shot at an animal with these BH.

I would say your good to go! Those KME sharpners are great. I forgot to mention that the Grizzlys seem to hold an edge really well

Yes they an edge very well.
I have sharpened 3 BH and used them a lot on 3D animals and target and they are still very sharp. Just needs a few strokes with the KME and is good to go.
The also fly`s like my fieldpoints so it is easy to switch for training!

Second frassettors post, I switched from Zwickey Deltas to 150 El Grande last year and the first thing I noticed was the wound channel difference between the two. The Delta would make a neet slit going in and coming out while the Grizz would show rotation and a "s" looking cut. Very impressive.

So then the "s" looking cut will give a better opening for the blood trail and less possibility for the "fat" to plug entrance and exit?

In theory, I suppose. Seeing the end result will make you a believer.  I've killed many whitetails with Zwickey Deltas, a fine head but fat plugging a hole hasn't been a issue for me. The entrance/exit hole that the El Grande makes is like none I've seen before with my Deltas. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

i've constated that Grizzly like other SB broadheads really turn inside the body of a animal, this fact help to create bigger hole and better blood trail or falling piece of the animal ...
