cordovan or nylon?

thinking of buying a new glove because my damascus is about shot. the 2 i have in mind are the big shot from american leathers and the super glove from alaska bowhunting supply.here's my question,which would give me better finger comfort? and which would be more durable,the cordovan or the nylon? thanks in advance to your replies,rich

Out of the two, I have only tried the big shot. It is a nice glove, but it just wasn't for me.I would be more inclined to buying the super glove.

ok,but how well will the cordovan stand up to the nylon,will the cordovan tips start to form creases? my biggest issue with buying a new glove is that i want good protection on the fingers.this is the problem i'm having trying to decide between the 2,they both seem like very well made gloves,other then the price difference.

Cordovan is incredibly durable!  I don't shoot any kind of glove so don't know if shell cordovan will crease or not.  I have used cordovan tabs all my life -- in fact the one I really started with in about 1960 is still very usable!  Don't oil or treat cordovan, a little pool que powder or baby powder if you feel the need, I never have, just shoot it as is.  If the glove is well made it should last a long time.

Cordovan will wear for ever. I shoot tabs, not a glove, but love cordovan.

I used to shoot a super glove before I switched to a tab. They are awesome.

there is one more thing that's kinda turning me off the super glove,and that's that the new ones are being made overseas,germany i do believe.the web site says new and improved,but from what i'ev been able to gather it seems the ones made right here in the u.s.a. were made better though,any thoughts on that?

Jerry Hill (I think) makes a glove that has cordovan with stiff nylon inserts. I don't see how you would ever wear it out. The one I used had very good finger protection.

The 3RA Dura glove is great.  I tried a lot of gloves and this is the best as far as I'm concerned.  H

Cordovan for me.  the other leather on the my gloves may wear out but the cordovan fingers are still in reasonably good shape.

i use cordovan tabs so i guess the glove would be just as good.

I also need a glove with alot of finger protection, if I feel the string I also feel the pain which makes for a bad shooting experience. I was looking at buying the big shot glove but instead I went with the Neets traditional glove with the cordovan overlays. I had read some of the reviews on the 3R site & some said that the stitching on the overlays comes out, with that in mind, as soon as I got the glove I rubbed string wax liberally into the overlay stitching and have had no problems. It is the best glove I have used; smoothe release easy break in, plenty of finger protection and less than half the cost of a big shot glove. The cordovan has formed slight creases but I think any material would crease to some degree, either way it does not affect the release. I highly reccomend it.

I too am constantly on the search for the "perfect glove," but have yet to find it.  One problem I often find is that the finger stalls aren't long enough.  I like them to come almost to my middle knuckle.  I just find it suits me better than the normal length finger stalls.

This guy will work with you and make you a glove just the way YOU want it.  Check with him and see what he can do for you.  He just might be able to fix you right up.
