7 Lakes longbow
« on: March 29, 2010, 03:52:00 PM »
I understand Mike Ballenger is starting to make his custom bows again.  I have been interested in his bows for awhile and have been looking for a used one to try out to see how they shoot and if I would like it. But they don't come up for sale very often.  So I am looking for some opinions and feed back on his bows. (not his u-finish blanks, but his custom bows)

Bows that I have are Northern Mist Shelton, JD Berry Vipers (3) Liberty English and Classic, Great Northern Critter Getter, Dwyer Classic and Pacific Yew longbow.  I was wondering how his bows rate in comparison to the bows I already shoot.  All between 54 & 56 @26.

Thanks guys,  Al

Sure you don't want to hear about his blanks? Especially when they are off the same mold as finished by him are. In the hands of anyone who understands what they should end up like and asks Mikes advice during the finishing process, the differences are not in performance.

I make some of my own and have a bunch of other quality bows. The 1 seven lakes u finish bow I have is the one I shoot when the chips are down, Say a big competition. Or if I had to kill something to eat. I have won a bunch of shoots with that bow. In other words it's my best bow.
The hunt is the trophy!
