Yep, Vance said it all.  Thanks buddy!

This site has grown to over 12,000 members due mostly to the steady control and direction of the moderators.  The main reason I came here to start with, and why I find myself drawn to it so much, is because bickering and complaining is not common.  That is something that can easily get out of hand without a gentle hand on our shoulders from time to time.  I understand the desire and need to keep the focus where it should be so that this site stays true to its purpose, and that is traditional bowhunting.  That's all I've seen anyone ask for here, and I thank them for it.

Now I'm going to go outside and shoot some arrows!

Geeze, come on guys. Read the original post.READ IT! Not one mod or Admin said anything about not posting on knives and such, just keep it down and keep the forum on track, TRAD ARCHERY. I commend all the mods and Admin, they have a thankless job and they let us come here and enjoy this family, thats right FAMILY. Lets stop the bickering and get on with the fun of this site.

Mia Culpa - as much as anyone ( and more than a lot, probably). Nobody likes to get caught speeding, and even less to get ticketed for it, but we all do it now and then. Yep even old road-wise warriors like me   :D . However, when and if I do, I always   try  to remember ( before  I start to get defensive) that it was not the Patrolman/Officer who talked me into speeding - it is just his job to slow me down. And maybe, just maybe, prevent a major catastrope from happening.

(A "catastrophe" here on TG could be something like: so manny posts allowed on so many various topics/sub-topics, without any "caution lights", that the site became so big it could no longer realisticly exist as we know and love it - thus no longer providing us with this home away from home that the majority of us love so well.)

I, for one/of many, will try to do my best - to do my very best, within the "speed limits"! FWIW

Thank you for your excellent post, Bernie.

You are certainly a core member of Trad Gang and your posts and insights are always refreshing and insightful.  Thank you Bernie!

OK, so, who has never made a mistake here at Trad Gang?

NOT ME!

To err is human and I prove my humanity daily!  I know I've made some posting errors right here on PowWow, and someone always points 'em out to me and I just correct 'em.  Most of the Mods have made errors, too.  No big deal, no one's being held accountable.  None of this is what this thread is about, either!

The theme of this here topic that JC started is just to ask y'all to take note of any existing knife threads afore ya decide to start yet another new one.

That's it!

We're just asking ya to think before ya leap.  There is no banning of knife threads - that would be plain stupid.

To all of those that posted negatively on this thread - please reconsider what the positive posts are saying.  I hope now you'll better understand, and reconsider your thoughts and opinions of your Trad Gang.

Best to all,
Rob.

Vance is correct in his post. I said use common sense and also knife post are great and ya can keep them going by just adding to what is posted rather than adding another and another and another. You could even pull up and old post and start out your post by saying" I was thinking about my new knife and this old post came to mind and I thought I would bring it to the top as it was interesting". Just a thought on my part. One more thing I woul;d like to say to the people who had negative comments about the mods., take a second to think before ya post such things as it is not easy. I am sure you do not realize the crap these guys put up with everyday from people complaining about everything from A to Z. Use good judgement and think before ya post! Have Fun! Shawn

Gotta agree with Shawn here.
I make knives & love the process. Over the past month I haven't posted or added anything to any knife posts just to see the direction this issue was going. I even held off posting here since yesterday.

Moderating a site with as many members & subjects as this one has is a monumental task. It ain't fall off a log easy. There's a hell of a lot going on behind the scenes to keep this site the way it is.

Give 'em credit for their day over day efforts on our behalf.

While I can see both sides of the knife thing and won't say which side of the fence I'm on I would like to say this...

I've been on a bunch of sites in my life time that covered just about everything you can think of and none of them run as smooth as this one. They get nasty with each other, mods hammer people and banish them from returning, you have name calling and all type of bad behavior.

This site runs smooth because of the mods and a request to slow the post down wasn't unreasonable. They have a thankless job and it seem like we may be picking on them a bit here when we should try to be a little more understanding.

I vote we get the thread behind us, respect their request to slow down a little, and thank the mods for a wonderful site, and close this thread.

Anyone want to second my recommendation?

Thank you Moderators for the excellent job you are doing!  :notworthy:  I agree with you on the lighten up aproach on the knife topics. I also love to see the work of fellow Trad Gangers (knives, bows, quivers, even paintings for that matter). I like the way you guys monitor the posts and whole-heartedly support you...Sure can tell that hunting season is over, cause people are looking for things to gripe about.

All the moderators are asking for is moderation (grin).  That seems quite reasonable to me.

Man, there's alot of good people on here. It's always refreshing to come on here after a thread like this gets goin, and after some stuff gets aired out the majority of the folks are positive and life goes on as usual. Yeah, the mods have a hard job, but the right people are in the right places and they do what they need to do. The point comes across, we take it and do what we need to do. I wish the Govment could see how things should be done, instead of haglin on and on and gettin nowhere. Admin and mods you're doin a good job. We don't all always have to agree on every thing, if we were all of the same mind this place wouldn't be any fun.

I get what everone is saying.  Use common sense, its easy enough.  I dont build knifes but I sure like looking at them, and try to pick up information on how it is done.

Here is my question and maybe someone can explain i to me.  This thread has reached 5 pages so far.  There have many experienced bow hunters, moderators and others respond.  There is a guy actually asking a question about peeling goose feathers.  I dont even know what that means, but not one person has responded to him??????   Im pretty sure some one knows?  Im pretty sure its a traditional gear?  Im pretty sure it isnt a overly asked question?

I see that on alot of threads.  People asking serious questions about stuff, and it gets 1 maybe 2 responses, and sometimes none???

I dont get it.  Im not complaining just dont understand how everyone is like "everyone is so helpful and giving"

JMO  whatever that is worth

Red, everyone is as helpful as possible. Someone willsee that question and answer it or it will get lost in the shuffle. Lets close this one up or lock it and let people view it as a reference.. Shawn
