I found the cure for Bowaholicness"...  Trade it in for a different disease... start building your own.  You'll find you just don't get the same satisfaction from shooting custom/commercial bows anymore, even knowing they're better than you're doing.  You'll still have lots of new bows, because each time you build one, you'll know you can do better.  I'm not sure which disease is better, but this is more fun... says the guy who just took #18 out of the oven this morning...   I haven't bought a new bow since #1.   Of course, there is the problem of "machinitis"....  8^)

Unfortunately I would need to find someone to befriend me (like Dick) to cure my "Bowaholicness".

About 15 years or so I took a fall in my home that caused me to lose the use of my left lung and I was advised by the doctors to give up the making of any bows that involved certain woods and fiberglass. I asked about respiratory protection only to be told it wouldn't be worth the risk involved.

Since I really love breathing a bunch and it wasn't just one doctor advising me and I paid dearly for all of their advice, I haven't built a bow since.

None of what I've stated above has not cured my desire to shoot bows, all different kinds of bows. It just made it more difficult and costly.

Please understand and don't take this as complaining or whining because I know I am truly a blessed kid of a king.

God bless,Mudd

I went up to chad's shop and got one of those " osprey ", it's an amazing bow.  Fasts quiet and accurate.  I went there to just have him size up my hand because I thought that was part of my problem with recurves, that's what I've been shooting, but I really want to shoot longbow.  Chad had me shoot recurve and longbow, he spent about 3 hours with me.  I originally wanted him to make one for me.

He had one there that was just the right LOL, 62" 41.5# @ 28.  I took it home !  My draw length is 29.5 so it makes it come out to be 43.5 @ 29.5.  But in the time that he had spent with me and watched how I shot, he said I draw my bow to 29.5" and then I settle back down to 29" the " osprey " shoots axis 500's like darts.

It's a pretty sweet bow !

BUT

36 days ago !! I don't know what come over Me !!!!

I also was talking to Dan Toelke if,(my 2nd Whip) (when you do that you better be prepared)

So before the hour conversation was over, another new bow was on its way.  Well I got the bow Thursday in the mail. WOW , now this was an "osprey" last month, and a "whip" this month, does anyone see a problem developing here !   :biglaugh:

The good news is they are both sweet shooting longbows !  Can't wait for deer season !

Selling that Osprey would definitely have been a major mistake! They are great bows.
