Took a walk with a TG buddy
« on: April 03, 2010, 01:13:00 PM »
This morning a long package arrived from Kansas. It contained a Holm made Osprey from my cyber friend Ringneck. Shawn and I decided since we are acknowledged bowho's we would exchange bows we were curious about that the other one had. I sent him a 1 piece H'bird and received the LB. This is jut a trial temporary thing but the trust is the important thing here.
Decided to skip a few honey do's and enjoy a walk in the woods. Went to my bow club and shot a 14 round field range with the LB. Ha two sets of 4 arrows with me so was shooting 8 arrows at each target.
Understand I am not a target shooter per se but decided to try this bow out in this way. Ended up shooting from 80 -15 yards with this new found pleasure. Forgot how pleasant a lb is to carry, not to mention how quiet. Point on for me was 45 yards. Anything 35 yards and under was shot instinctive as is the case with my recurves. The bow is 51#@28 but I draw 29" so I was impressed with how this little bow spit out fairly heavy arrows.
Also accompanying me on this little walk was a knife that Shawn made me. Just in case the snakes were out. So even though Shawn is someone I have never met in person I truly was walking with a friend. We are hoping to get together next year for a hunt in KS. if I get drawn. If anyone is interested in a quality made custom knife you might check out: swaffordknives.com Unembarrassed plug for a friend.
Overall a great way to spend a few hours.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Cool story Tom, and it is indeed a GREAT thing to be able to shoot another bow that we have been hankerin' to try. I have talked to and met so many good people on here. There's just "somethin' special" about people that shoot traditional bows.

Oh, and you pretty much know what I have in my "small arsenal" and anytime that you would like to "take a walk" with any of them, just let me know.

Oh, and I am becoming a bowho'.........also.

What if you woke up tomorrow, with only what you thanked God for today ???

Sweet Tom. Let's get together and shoot soon. I'm really hoping to make the Rhinehart shoot at Augusta next month.
