Poorman's multi-fletcher
« on: April 04, 2010, 08:59:00 AM »
Being tired of waiting for glue to dry using single fletcher.  Finally become brave enough to give a try to make one.

Magnet insert in the supports to hold down the clamp.

Use shim to adjust the height for proper centering with clamp.

Rubber band to hold the shafts in place.  Cut straw and tape one end.  Use the short straw as the index to match the mark on the jig.

Cut metal strap in 6" pairs.  Twist them a bit to make clamps.  Paper clamp works well.

Rotate shaft to match the index with the marks (120 degree apart) when glue is cured.  Repeat the fletch.

That's pretty cool.  I got tired of waiting for glue to dry too.  I switched to the fletch tape and never looked back.  I have never had an adhesive problem, regardless of temperture and can fletch arrows as fast as I care to.  I do always use a wrap and I am sure that helps with adhesion, but I was using wraps for visibility anyways.
Good job!  Always great to make something you need and then have that thing really work!

Great job, Ming.  Looks like your background training came in handy.  I may try to make something like that someday.  Congrats.
