Made a decision today......
« on: April 09, 2010, 10:11:00 PM »
Hey guys,
I've been wanting a custom longbow for a while. Actually "wanting" is an understatement, but like so many other people out there, I'm on a budget. I can't afford 6 or 7 hundred bucks for a new Shrew(really want one) so I'm gonna call Mike at Dryad next week and order a blank. Black glass with the gray actionwood riser. I really like the Windtalker lines and I can shape the handle to suit me. Should I go ahead and fork over the $50.00 for the boo cores? Is 8 fps worth the extra money? Thoughts or input?

I did a Windtalker blank and they make a nice bow. I have several other bows that have "BOO" cores and I think they have a smoother draw than non "BOO". I would go for the Bamboo!!!!! As for the speed I can't say if it's worth it or not,but it will be smooth!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I'm with Ron.  I don't notice much in the speed but I can easily tell the difference in boo and non boo by the smoothness of the draw.  If it were me I'd dig a little deeper and get that $50.
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)
