hawthorn and boxthorn for a selfbow

i have been told by an exbowyer that hawthorn and boxthorn is almost as good a wood as osage for  selfbows.
i would like to know if anyone has tryed these woods and if so how well did it work

Try asking this in the bowyers bench forum. Those guys should know.
