Just went from velcro to a beavertail rest and strike plate (from Abe) for my Cari-bow, so far so good. Seems pretty tough and I like the way it looks. I also like that bits of feather and other stuff isn't constantly getting caught in the beavertail like it did with the velcro.

I use leather but have used velcro in the past and it worked well. Whatever the shelf material you use make sure you put a match stick, piece of leather or something to make a raised place on your shelf

Velcro for me as well. I buy the black industrial stuff at Wal-Mart and it has served me very well.

Velcro works great for bowfishing but I agree with Hunter and don't like that things tend to get caught in it.
I've tried everything as of late and I love a calf hair window and soft suede rest.
I'll have to try some of that seal skin.
