Wax Removal

No I don't need to wax my back. Well maybe I do you'll have to ask my wife. Anyway I have a bow that has wax on it and it's scratching off and looks bad. What's the best way to remove it? I'm sure heat is involved.

One method to try is to cut up some brown paper shopping bags. Lay the paper over the bow and use a clothes iron at a low heat to "iron" the bow and melt the wax. As it melts the paper will absorb the wax. Move and replace the paper as necessary.

Cotton Terry Cloth towel and "Goof Off". Do a little test spot first to make sure it doesn't react with the finish and if not just wipe it off.

Auto supply stores carry a product called wax and grease remover that should be just the ticket.

We've been through this many times before Lowebow, remember the only reason I don't wax my back is 'cause your wife likes it.

Wow Lowebow, he hammered you right there! Now that was hilarious! Sounds just like us guys at work all the time.

Is the wax on a self bow or a laminated bow TJ? I would think a solid wood bow would be less prone to be damaged when removing the wax.

one of the best wax removers around that will not hurt your bows original finish is cover girl 100% acetone finger nail polish remover on a cotton rag bd
