Another carbon question

was thinking of trying some carbons out but my dealer had a very limited selection.

I'm currently shooting 44# @ 28 inches and using 30" inch 1916 XX75s and a 125 grain tip.

Assuming I stay with 125 grain tips any suggestions regarding a starting point???

I would look for a carbon in the .600 spine range,like CE Heritage 75,GT Entrada 600 or GT 15/35,Beman Classic 600 or Axis 600.Start full length and trim and tune from there.

swampdrummer already beat me to it. Most likely you could get away with up to 200 plus grains up front. Most of my bows are 45# @ 29" and I've got 50 grain brass inserts up front and can shoot up to and including 200 grain field tips.

Ditto on the .600 spine with 125 gr - the 35/55 with only 125 gr points will likely be too stiff....

Here are some specs that will match the dynamic spine within .5#.  Gt 15-35 trad 29in 175grain point.  Arrow weight 430, arrow foc 19.8 vs 1916 has 461grains of arrow weight foc of 13%.  If you want to stay with a 125 grain point get a 50grain insert with the 15-35.  This arrow should tune exactly compared to the other.  They're close in weight and the 15-35 has efoc.

Is your riser cut to or past center? The 500 - 600 spines should be fine. I would tend to go with the 500 so if you wanted to add more weight up front later you could without making the shafts too weak.

I'd also suggest a .600 carbon for that set up.  Many good options have been mentioned, and we also have the Carbon Express Predator II's in a .600 spine as well (called 20/40's).

Just like to agree with some of the posts above. I shoot a 45lb longbow with 1535's full length, even though I draw 28". I have 100gr brass inserts with 125gr tips. I can shoot em bare shaft even and no tail left/right. Now if only my other bow/combo would do that.

I'm shooting a full length {30"} Gold Tip Traditional 35/55 w/ 5" feathers, 125gr. point & 1" piece of 2117 footer out of my 52* 28" Zona T/D Recurve so I would suggest the 15/35's for that lighter weight.

On my Hoyt Dorado set up with 40# Samick limbs I shoot the Gold Tip Entrada 600's w/ 3" feathers & 125gr. points.
