i need some info on a longbow.

i've been seeing a martin archery moutioneer on a certain bidding site.i was wondering if anyone had any info on these bows they seem to be going for around $150.00 and i checked martin's website and they are made by damon howatt,so i was wondering if anyone had any feed back on this bow.any help would be appreciated.

Damon Howatt made Martin Traditional bows for years.I believe they became a part of Martin back in the late eightes or early ninety's.Damon Howatt has been making traditional bows for probalby around 50 years or more.The Pioneer model was discontinued years ago,but now the Damon Howatt is seperated from Martin they have brought back some of their older discontinued models.Damon Howatt still makes a couple of entry level bows for Martin.The Pioneer is a more of straight limbed hill style bow.They are good shooters,I had one years ago.Damon Howatt makes some great traditional bows in my opinion,I have several Martin/Damon Howatt bows and they are are fine shooters.

thanks for all the info guys. when i seen they where going for 150.00 on **** and the seller was claiming they where brand new it kinda put a red flag for me and usally when something is to good to be true it usally is. so i knew if anyone would know about these bows it would be you guys. im shooting a fred bear grizzly right now and i was wanting a bare longbow to play around with. thanks for all of the advice.

I've had several.  Nicely built hill style bow.  The "but" is they do come with handshock.  Heavy arrows 12-14 grains per pound of draw weight will tame it some, but it's still there.  I had to shoot ash off mine for it to be comfortable.  I sold them all over the years.  I make self bows and find they perform at least as well without  the shock.
