ILF Question

Hello,Im thinking of buying a Morrison Mini 14 riser from a friend of mine. The limbs on the bow are a little lighter than i'm used to.I'm thinking of buying a set of the Black Max Carbon limbs from Trad Tech. Does anyone hear have any experience with these limbs? And whats your thoughts on them. I'd like to have a bow that ends up 50# to 55# and 58" long. Thanks for any information you can share with me. ,Jim

I just ordered a set, should be here today or one Monday, will let you know what I think. I have shot the wood/carbons and was impressed with them to say the least.

Thanks for the information guys.I really like the idea of being able to buy any limb or any riser and haveing it work.The riser measures 8" from limb bolt to limb bolt center. With long limbs this should make a 58" bow? According to the information on the Sky web sight you gain a pound for every inch you go down in riser length.So 45# limbs would be 49# max and the 50'S would be 54# max. Has anyone noticed any difference in vibration or noise when you back the limbs out to reduce the draw weight?Thanks,Jim

No.  Remember, once the bow is strung, as long as the brace height is the same, nothing should change in that department.  The ILF fitting at that point is nothing more than a "centering pin" as the limb rocker rests directly on the limb pad no matter where you have the preload set.

Weight doesn't change on the Morrison risers by length. Bob changes the pad angle to keep them the same.

Also I have noticed more noise in some risers with the limbs backed out.

I got my black mx's in yesterday, put on the riser cranked all the way down, mine is a cheap Samick riser,23". The #40 limbs, shorts, still make a 64" recurve, beautiful graceful looking bow. I made a string, tuned it a little and was blown away by how smooth and flat these limbs shoot. I am getting #45-#46, bottomed out, whisper quiet, and I use the same anchor to 40 yards, shoot instinctively, do face walk for some of myl other bows. Havent got to shoot that much but am very impressed so far.

I have some Black Max carbons (long) on a Black Onyx riser(15") total 60". I can't say one way or another if they're worth the extra $ since that's all I've shot but they are certainly smooth and quiet. I think I've finally found "THE ONE" that everyone has talked about but always eluded me.
