Gloves vs. Tabs

Hey guys, I've been using a glove. I've noticed that the tips of the fingers slide around a bit and sometimes, pop off a little from my fingers. Is this common? Do tabs have similar issues?

Sounds like your glove might be too big. Try the next size down.

Ditto.  I like my shooting glove to be a tad uncomfortable at first until my fingers stretch them out to fit.

Yes,It sounds like the glove is a size to big.But I did have a Problem like that with the Wyandotte style gloves.Tryed a size smaller,and couldn`t get the glove on.I use the Damascus style glove.Fingers fit nice in them.I tryed a tab,but for some reason I hit my nose alot with the string.

I started out shooting a glove but have switched to a tab.It is pretty hard to beat a cordovan tab,been shooting the same tab for the last 4 years.

I use tabs i have a little better release with them but everyone is different! but if you have not tryed a tab i would try it because you never know if its going to work for you or not and no one can tell you if it will or if it wont! you just have to try.

I like gloves, just feels like a smoother transition from nocking the arrow to shooting in the same fluid motion (when someone better at it then me does it).

I have a Neet Suede Shooting Glove. When I first tried it on it was snug. Guess they stretch.

Both gloves and tabs have their advantages. You will most likely want to experiment with both.
My personal chose is the tab. Gloves seem to wear out right quickly once they are broken in.
Cordovan tabs permit,IMO, a noticeably smoother release,last me nearly a year and inexpensive. I can keep a couple of back-ups in case I lose one.

Give the glove and the tab a fair chance so you can decide what is best for you.

I'm not sure how well the string would slide off the suede.  Neet also makes a very similar glove with calf hair on the shooting fingers, that would probably release the string a little better.  I have the Neet calf hair glove, and the problem with it is that it is so thin that it hurts my fingers to shoot with it.  What I finally settled on was the Dura Glove from 3 Rivers, that has cordura on the shooting fingers, and the cordura provides a slick release.

But as others have said above in different words, YMMV!

Started with a Super Mitt tab, then switched to a Kangaroo skin Alaska Bowhunting glove, and found them to be cumbersome and useless when in a stand or ground blind and needing my right hand for buttoning, dexterity, etc...

Switched to a BW tab with can't pinch spacer and love it. Flip it out of the way when you don't need it. and I ain't cutting up gloves anymore.

I have been using a Screaming Eagle cordovan tab for a couple of years now. I don't know if they ever wear out! It is slick, simple, and flips out of the way when not in use. I don't care for the finger spacers.

I've also used the Duraglove and like it the most of any glove I have tried. I just get a better release with a tab.

Bushytail, you may need to trim your tab a bit.

Glove.  I had a large and had a similar problem fit great although just to much movement, So I bought a medium it was way to tight so I used a screw driver handle and just stretched it every way possible. Pushed it down in the fingers and stretched them the best I could. Now it fits like its made for my hand.  Might try it.  Medium will be way to tight at first if your like I am but large is just a bit to big especially if it stretches some. Its a Alaskan bow hunting glove.  Love it.

Size does matter,When it's your glove go down a size.or get one with an elastic back so it keeps tension on the tips.

I love my Damascus gloves.Wouldn't switch for anything.But like everyone above says size does matter.

It comes down to personal preference and the results. Tried a glove, then tried a tab. The tab gave me a cleaner release. Been using a tab shooting trad bows for the last 46 years.

Started out with a glove, but changed to a tab. I like the calf hair type. For me the release is smooth. It won't last as long as some of the Cordovan tabs, but I generally lose them before they wear out. Also, I have found that I can use my tab over my fleece glove in cooler weather.
