I am looking at a job in Peoria. I am interested in public access to hunting in that area.

JD.  There is some available in the area but it is hunted pretty hard.  Illinois is NOT like Wisconsin.  They definately do not have as much avaialable public access land.   There is a state park located just west of town, Jubilee I think is the name.  They had huntable acres that I visited quite a bit when I lived there.  That was a long time ago, but I think it is still available.  There are several sites around if you look.  I can turn you on to another site which is a bit of a drive from Peoria, but a nice area to camp and hunt from if the River is not in flood stage.  PM me if you wish.

JD Try this link. I am about an hour north of Peoria, If you move shoot me a PM and we can try to get together for some arrow slinging. Glenn

Click on the link that says northwest region and it will show you several places around Peoria that might work. (Upper left hand corner on the link above)

Thank you both! I know it is not going to as easy as WI. The DNR link really helped. That is part of my problem. I work every other week, so I send a lot of time hunting and fishing. Here it's all 10 or 15 minutes of the house.
