Boys and Bow Snot
« on: May 29, 2010, 07:00:00 PM »
Well, when my five year old asked me if he could help me build his new bow...I was pretty shocked and happy that he was interested!  Since there are only a few things a five year old can do in a shop full of power tools, I figured he could at least help me glue it and put it in the form.
I tell ya, he had a ball playing with that Smooth-On or (bow snot)....he got to wear the gloves and everything!  We had all sorts of things stuck together, but we did manage to get it into the form!  After we were done, I only had to cut out a few chunks of snot from his hair...and yea, the pajamas he had on were toast!  No big deal, it was all worth it to see him somewhat interested in the stuff I do!   :)
Anyway, i'm just happy and proud of my son...just thought I would share!

Awesome! Great pictures and even better memories for you and your son.

You'll have to share with us when he starts shooting it.

Bet that made your Day!  How cool is that?

Pretty soon you will be finding bows all wrapped up and given to you as a birthday gift.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

This is the bow and form...my son's bow is osage and black glass.  I glued up another one today for my neighbors son...gray action wood and black glass.  I made the form from a 2x4 and straightened it out on the jointer.  It is a simple form and makes putting these bows together quick and easy.

Nice work!  I like the idea.  Might have to put something like that together for my boys.

There is little doubt in my mind that when it is all said and done the greatest gift we can give to a young person is.........time.  Nice job.  Hats off to you.  Bow isn't bad either. LOL.
