The entire state has lots of elk, lots of big bulls and antlerless areas as well. The tag and license are reasonable and the elk are here for the hunting. I have seen herds of big bulls hanging out pre-season in every area I have hunted over 30 years I hunted this area. I put the wife 20 feet from a 6 X 6 Bull last year. To bad it was two days before early elk season started. She also had a yearling at 18 yards broadside and looking away 10 minutes later. At the time were were inside a loosely grouped herd of about 20 head.
