Twin Whippen Sticks
« on: June 10, 2010, 11:30:00 PM »
Just thought I'd share a few pics of my twin Whippen Stick longbows, "Sugar and Spice". I've had them for a little bit now and finally got some decent pics of the two of them.

When I was looking to switch back to longbow I wanted a pair I could use for everything, hunting, 3D, field archery, whatever. I asked Ken if he could build me the bows to meet IFAA longbow specs. One of the main criteria is the bows have to maintain a "D" profile when strung and he said no problem. When he was working on the bows and profiling them Ken explained how the first bow was really sensitive to work on. The second came into profile without any trouble. That's where the nicknames came from, "Sugar" and "Spice". The good thing is that they're both sweet to shoot and look at. I love how quiet and smooth they shoot and they flat out launch an arrow.

These bows are about as close as can be. The main stuff (length and poundage) is nearly identical, cosmetically they're super close, and they shoot the same. I actually got to go up during the build and have both grips shaped just the way I like them so I can pick up either bow and shoot them without adjustment.

Just thought I'd share.
