Suggestions on shipping a bow across the pond
« on: June 14, 2010, 10:10:00 PM »
I need to ship a longbow I sold a fellow TG'er. He is in England. We have checked and can't find a reasonable shipper   :banghead:  . USPS only will take up to a 60" tube. Fed Ex, UPS and DHL are anywhere from $150 to $180.... crazy. Any suggestions from folks that have sent bows oversea would surely be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Froggy

Lanier,
You might check with the U.S. Post Office.
I have sent longbows thru them before - but only domestic U.S. shipments.
I did just send a box to a guy in Australia - and I sent the U.S. Postal Priority Mail.  It weighed 7 lb.s and cost me $57.60 to send.
Shipping overseas is just pricey.

With the USPS you have a max length limit.I shipped a 70" longbow to France,USPS said it was too long so I shipped with UPS.And it was $122.15 and that was 5 years ago.If it would be a T/D,these are the best type of bows for overseas shipping. With longer packages your choices are limited and expensive.

True, shipping overseas it costly. I paid way too much, without knowing it.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Hi Froggy.

I ship overseas often UPS is the best way to go
it is expensive but it will get there. And you can track the package to know where it is at any time.  ( $150 to $180 is abought right ) with
UPS.

Good Luck.
Rodney.

Maybe my Post Office doesn't know the length rule but $35 USD does the trick to England, Germany, France, Australia & the Netherlands.
