Arrow nocks pulling out

I have been shooting carbon express 250 arrows to see how they shoot, and for me they have been working great, I did notice that the nocks were pulling out just a hair, so on every shot I would snap them back in, I thought it was a bit wierd, I didn't put it all together until I changed strings and with the new serving about the third shot the nock came completly out, I then got the arrow snapped the nock back in and put it on the string and pulled the arrow off, and there the arrow nock hung, riddle solved! Are there any ideas on how to keep the nocks in, is there some product I can use to glue them in where I can still remove them later if I need to?

I have always liked a tight fitting nock, and trying different nocks, some fitting looser than others have never noticed any difference in accuracy or tuning, so I want to stay with a tight fitting nock, especially since I changed to 3 under about 6 months ago and leave a tiny gap (not even a hair) between my index finger and the nock so I would be very uncomforable with a loose fitting nock.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. D.Knecht.

I'd venture to say that if your nocks are so tight that they are pulling off your arrows on the shot that they just about have to be affecting accuracy. But if not, Get them where you want them in relation to your fletching and glue them suckers in!   :p

Sounds to me like you need to adjust the your nock tightness a bit to allow them to come off the string properly.  That tight of a nock has to be affecting your accuracy.

David sounds like your nock grooves are to tight.Some nocks have a round groove at the inside base for the string(IMO made for the compound skinny strings)This may not fit your string.Take 120 grit sand paper and lightly sand the nock groove until it slides on and off the string with little effort.Do a little sanding at a time so you don't over sand it down.This should fix the problem.And a tight nock can very well change your impact point due to it hanging up on the string.Good luck and take your time sanding

First thing I do is  throw all carbon express nocks out and replace with signature nocks.

I had that problem with mine for awhile. Just file down the inside bit of the nock so it isn't so tight on the string. You can do it a little bit at a time, until the arrow falls off the string with just a firm tap. Then you can still remove the nocks from the arrows if you want.

If your nocks are loose use dental floss the thin kind, use over hand knot on front and back of string pulleach knot tight.

Thanks for all of the input, before I got on to see the replys this eve I cut 1/8 pieces of electrical tape and slid them in the shaft end, then while holding on to a bit I pressed the nocks in and it worked great, now a few more questions! First to Metsastaja, will the signature nocks fit a bit more loosly? Now you all have me thinking, I am shooting around 8 inch groups at 25 yards, but maybe if I do the work on my nocks to get them a bit more loose or buy looser fitting nocks my groups will be even tighter, any thoughts? It certainly helped me. I found the tight knocks to be really distracting, as I tended to 'anticipate' them sticking and wasn't 100% focused on the shot. Plus it's just a pain. Filing them fixed this for me no problem.

I find the signature nocks fit in the shaft more snugly. I was losing nocks on impact.

I have two different ways of opening the nocks to fit the string. one; I file them using an emery board. two: I snap the nocks onto a piece of wire hanger which opens them up just a tad.  I then submerge hanger and nocks into pot of just boiled water and swish them around for about 10 seconds or so.  I then submerge into tap water to cool off.

Yup, open the nocks up and then get 'em hot.  That is the way I do mine also.

I'd go with the hot water method. I put about 2" of water in a glass.  Put it in the microwave on high for 1 minute.  Then I put the arrow with nock on it in, nock end down, in for a bout a minute.  Then I take the arrow and put it on the string.  I then pull the arrow on and off a few times till it feels right.  Run a little cool water on it and it should stay that size for ya.  Works for me anyway.  Good luck.

Thanks Keith! I'll have a go at that method on some of my non-snap ons just to get them a little bit snug.

BTW: Thanks for driving over yesterday. I had a great time! Also please e-mail me about your bow scale. I'd like to try something that doesn't require me to get out the tillering tree.

I thought the Scythian was going to get its 1st blood this am as a squirrel was down pestering the dogs. The darn phone rang just as I was slowly stepping onto the deck. By the time I got back he was all the way back up in the top of the pine tree..lol
