Longbows on TV
« on: June 16, 2010, 01:59:00 PM »
Has anyone seen the new TV show on the history Channel "Top Shot?" Usually it's about shooting different types of firearms. This coming Sunday ( June 20, 10/9C ) they will be shooting    :archer2:    longbows.

   Link to Top Shot episode

It should at least be an interesting episode.

The reality show format made it unwatchable for me.

Just stumbled onto to a show in progress ( never caught the name) and watched Byron Ferguson shoot drops of water with his longbow. his eye sight is fantastic!

Definitely a effort to watch.  Some of the performance of these "top shots" has been way less than I believe I would do in their situation.  Did they find these guys in a grocery store line.  (Maybe I'm being less than fair)  Still have watched the show; kind of like a B-rated movie you keep watching because you hope it will get better to justify the time already spent.    :dunno:

I have enjoyed the show just for the fact it is better than so much of the other garbage on. I too am looking forward to seeing the longbow show. Will be interesting to see how well they do and then compare it to the crossbow show.

I think I could kick some bottay on this show, lol.  I cant wait to see some of these people wing it with the bow, lol.  I couldn't believe that one guy who couldnt hit that target at 100 yards that first show, what the heck??  It aint that far!!!

From what I've heard on the show, some of them are only pistol shooters, only rifle shooters, etc. So I can see where some of them may be out of their comfort zone. However, I think Chris is right, a 100 yard target with a rifle isn't that far.

I'll be watching form, if any of them are creeping or collapsing, see if there's any plucks, and then watch how many of them are overbowed...  :saywhat:

Looked like Black Widow longbows backed with snakeskin. I'm rooting for the young guy. He seems the most humble and also cool under the collar.
Until next time...good shooting,
Lee

From the previews it looks like he's one of the better ones too.

I'm not a fan of the pistol guy who was complaining about shooting a bow...
