Liquid Amber's new St Joe River
« on: June 17, 2010, 06:37:00 AM »
We met Cliff at the Nashville PBS banquet and he asked us to build him a bow here are the pictures of the bow and the email I recieved from him.

Thanks Cliff and we are so glad you are happy

The bow is one of our 56" Recurves it is 52@28 the woods are Tiger maple and Sasafrass in the riser and Tiger maple in the limbs. The Tiger maple is stained Olive Drab for hunting Tracey also added a Sweet Gum Leaf tatoo to the riser for Cliff

Hello, David and Tracey,

Bow arrived yesterday and I picked at post office today.

Beautiful and the handle is a perfect fit.  Some tweaking of the brace
height and a little tuning and it will be dead on.  I shot it a few times
after making sure the bow arrived as sent, and found it hitting pretty close
to where it was pointed.  Quick little sucker for it's draw weight.  I plan
to trim the herd down to this bow and its backup.  If it performs as
expected this fall, I might just have you make another and get rid of the
current backup.  :-)

Thanks again for a fine product.  Exactly as ordered and I couldn't have
done the sweetgum leaf any better if I'd placed a real one there.

Good looking bow Cliff.  It looks like they did a great job.

Oh man that is one sweet bow! I just love the design and looks of these bows. Gets me excited for when mine comes. I just might end up ordering a recurve to match the longbow I got coming.

Congrats Cliff on fine stick!      :clapper:

David and Tracey are fine folks to work with and went the extra mile assuring I came away with exactly what I wanted.  I grabbed a bucket of arrows this evening and shot whatever came to hand and the bow digests a wide range of shafting.  It seems to prefer 2114s, my favorite shafting and a size I have a lifetime supply of.  We are beginning to enjoy each's company.   :)

Cliff, you shooting recurves these days? Are you drifting from long bows or just a little variety?

Man, I like that color.  Don't prop it against a tree and walk off.  The riser looks like an easy fit for however you grip it.

What are you bracing it at?

All native woods, some of my favorites! A sweet gum leaf and it's in my weight range...

Hope you have a good watch dog, Cliff! (One that likes Pupperoni.    :D )

Yes, Killi'.....sweetgum, of the genus Liquidambar.  You ever chew "liquid amber" as a youngster?

Billy - Come to think of it, I am shooting a recurve mostly these days.  I got tired of bumping my lockon cable and tree trunks in the "moment of truth."

Short recurves have made me nervous for a long time, even though I killed a buck in Desota Parish the first year I moved to Louisiana in 1979 with a Kodiak Magnum.  Never was able to shoot one as consistantly as longbows and recurves of at least 60 inches.

That is, until I shot some of David and Tracey's bows in Nashville.  I came away more comfortable and decided to pony up for one, especially after looking at a longbow they had in a pattern and color that sort of "melted my butter."

The photos really don't do the bow justice...it's much nicer in person.   :)

Uncle Buck - I was just down the road from you last weekend.  Not far off highway 5, across the road from Shaw Park.  My parents moved there in 1963, the year I was given three choices...get a job, join the service or go to college.   :)

I really like these 56 inch recurves!! I shot one similar to this, same weight and length and it felt like it drew the same as a bow 6 inches longer.
I may have to "test" one of these puppies out in a blind!!!!   :bigsmyl:
Just one more step please!
