Sight window size
« on: June 20, 2010, 12:45:00 PM »
Hi everyone.

I got tired waiting for my Bingham plans to arrive for my soon to be t/d Recurve so i started designing a riser. I want to make a rather short bow for hunting and started designing a short riser for it but i think i went to short. My sight window is only 2" now.

My question is what is the shortest you would be willing to make a sight window? I think the 2" is to short but am not sure how much longer i should make it.

Thanks for any help

The window on this Bow I made is just under 2".
I have to get a better pic of it.

Does the small window work good for you? I am use to my pearson hunter which has a 4" window which is why i was wondering if 2" would be too small.

mysticguido ya that picture is a little small lol

I canter My bows, If I don't canter the bow I can still see the target, but I can't be to far away  or the limb will block most of it..

Get Your eye over the arrow.. Take a bow you have now and tape a small piece of cardboard to make the window 2" and see what You think when You draw it back.

If you kind of like that, then add arrow and draw back... If You really want to test the size... Go shoot some arrows with the blocker on and see what You get.

I just blocked the sight window on my bow and 2" seems a little small but isn't to bad. I think it will be fine since i just had it squared of rather then rounded like it would be on the bow i think it could work fine.

Selfbows are 'all' window or 'none' depending on your point of view. Personally I never look in the window when shooting. Guess it is another preference thing.

Stop looking at the "window" nothing is in there - its all out in front.  Cant the bow - forget about it.  H
