Turkey strut zone?

I have been unable to locate any strut zones, or at least that I know of. help! what am I looking for?
Right now I am seeing the Turkeys being very call shy and I am sure my best bet now is to set up on one and wait.

I got one turkey down and one to go.

You have to get out and scout in morning and again an hour or so prior to sunset. The birds will be out strutting in thier zones at those times. Up here they out strutting at 0615 to 0730 and again around 0900 and in evening. I try not to walk around hunting areas, use binos from vehicle and check out all likely spots. If you know there is birds around then they will be struttin some place you just have to find them. You can also drive around a listen from backroads at first light. This past Saturday morning we had birds gobbling at 0515 and they gobbled for half an hour before flying down at 0545. Good luck!

I know where the birds are and have a few roost located, but it is just hard to see where they are going. since I am hunting wooded areas, that are getting denser everyday. I have scouted the and keep scouting. I have found tons of Morels, but, my last turkey is being very difficult.

They'll be strutting in an open spot someplace. Only ever seen one bird that did all his stutting in heavy bush, but thats this area yours maybe different.

The Strutt zones will look like someone was scratching the ground with a stick,and sometimes you will find wing feathers on the ground.They are easier to find in the woods,the leaves will be scratched up in 2 paralel lines like RR tracks.The ground gets scratched up by the Tom's wing feathers when he drags them while he's strutting.

Good places to look are field edges and corners,in logging roads,and on "benches" or "shelfs" in the woods.

I always look for scratching were the hens that are with the gobblers are feeding. The hens eat the gobblers strut. I have noticed that they will pick a certain area to hang out till they are pressured, then there apt to be anywhere. Try coming in from a different location each time you go, i like to work my way around them, you will find there route that way. If you go to the same spot each time they'll get wise to you and go a different way, there dumb but not totally.
