Best Trad Day Yet!
« on: June 24, 2010, 09:13:00 PM »
This may not look like much to many of you, but I started shooting Trad in January of this year.  These 5 shots are consecutive.  They were all taken at different distances.  I would approximate 30, 25, 20, 15, and 10 yards.  The 2 in the middle were 25 and 15 yds.  The outliers were 30 and 10 yards.

I pretty much did this same thing 3 times tonight.  Thought I should stop...I was getting too excited.

That's a good feeling when you start grouping like that at different distances, isn't it?
I really asking because I can't do it...so it really is a good feeling, right?
Seriously...good stuff!  Have fun!

Interesting thread.

When I shoot groups from the same distance, sometimes the group is tight and sometimes I am all over the target.

When I move to a different spot, I hit center again.

I assume I am concentrating on the spot better after I have moved.

Nice shooting. I'm the guy that after shooting a group like that has to shoot just on more group, never duplicating the group.

It's a great group.  You can learn from it as well.  Your up and down is close to perfect which means that you are right on the money making your adjustments for distance.  All your variance is left and right.  Pay really close attention to your anchor point(s)and a smooth release.  If you get your left and right honed in you'll be "scary good"...you are "really good" already!
Live every day like its your last, one day you'll be right.

Thank you.  Actually I turned the target for the picture.  I am off up/down.  This is one reason I keep moving around while shooting.  I am trying to learn the distance judgement so that when that deer "comes in from no where" this fall I won't have to second guess
