What about this new Deer Permit

There also is a new deer permit that will be required whenever hunting deer in Florida, beginning during the upcoming 2010-2011 hunting season.  The permit will cost $5 and will not be available for purchase until July 1.

The bucks will still be growing racks, they won't even have their final shape.  You must have too many deer eating too many people's flowers.  Bill

Marty,

The FWC is convinced that the changes will increase hunter satisfaction by bringing the rut more fully into the hunting season.  Their data indicates that the rut happens early in South Florida.  They have held public comment sessions all over South Florida and most people seemed to be more or less in favor of the changes.

Thanks Gregg. Yes it'll be in our rut, but I for one am not lookin forward to the heat and bugs- Canada just spoiled me- 45 degree nights and 75 degree days- but like they say- if you're gonna be dumb-ya gotta be tough!

Yes fella's our rut is August.

The rut data they are using is based on a study done in 1985 according to their own management data.  25 year old data for a modern plan. Gotta wonder about that.

It's just as hot in September as in August.I've personally seen bucks sparring and chasing does in the 'glades the first week of Sept.
I usually just hunt mornings to avoid the afternoon storms. I hike in so I don't want to get caught in a lightning storm.
It's screwy, but it is what it is, as they say.
