I just bought 40 here in western Kentucky last December, moved here in May. Place is covered with oaks of about six varieties and several kinds of hickory.
I just found a persimmon with fruit on it yesterday. About 25 acres of the land is in grass and lespedeza hay. Hasn't been cut in three years. I hope to get it bushhogged down and plant a feed plot.
I also retired when we moved here. I will be 62 in September and already applied for Social Security. It's a mighty good feeling to know I don't have to answer to some incompetent boss anymore.
Did I mention there is a little creek through the property and I've seen cottontails, gray squirrels and turkeys?
Getting my bow and arrow-making space arranged in the garage.
Just don't ever believe the most important thing in life is to get to do what you want all the time and experience pleasure. Those things are great, but they're not the purpose of life!
Retirement is great!
