archery opportunity in London?
« on: July 08, 2010, 04:16:00 PM »
Well looks like my wife might get transferred to London for a couple of years.  It's a big move for sure but my biggest question is....Are there any places to shoot my bow in or around London??  Do we have any European shooters onboard here that would like to get together with a lonely Canadian??

Cheers folks

Contact Jim Belcher(Sky Archery). He should be able to point you in the right direction. Lots of contacts in merry old England.

FWIW I have been told that there's no killing the King's deer in all of England any more. From whay I've read all bow hunting is strictly verbooten.

Rob Peel / robtattoo, though not a Londoner, may be able to give you some info.
Hunting with the bow and arrow involves earning your way by making meat, getting your hands messy in the process and then recognizing your own reflection upon them.

I shot with a fellow from London at Cloverdale a couple years back, If I remember correctly his name was Wally and he told me there is no bowhunting allowed there at all. He was shooting a great selfbow he made from materials available in London!

I'm not looking for hunting opportunities just a place to shoot.  I think Africa is just a hop skip and jump away...I think some impala are in deep peril.

thanks for the ideas guys!

Although I have no personal experience with them, I know there are A LOT of archery clubs/ranges in and around London.  Many seem to tend more to traditional archery, and of course there are many clubs in England that just cater to those who shoot the classic English longbow.  Here are a few clubs:
  Aquarius Archers
  Bowmen of Harrow
  Hampstead Bowmen
ST. HUBERT'S RANGERS, Brotherhood of the Medieval Hunt.
MICHIGAN LONGBOW ASSOCIATION
