Is the old green bear broadhead better than newer stainless model?

I got some old green bear broadheads will they be better for elk? or is the stainless better.I can get both shaveing sharp..

Use whichever you want to they'll both result in a dead elk.

I used Bear Razorheads for about 30 years of my 45 years bowhunting.  I stopped using them about 15 years ago (reluctantly) because I didn't think they were keeping up with better made broadheads. I loved how easy the Bears were to make hair-shaving sharp with only vertical crock sticks.  I didn't like the bleeder blades at all (they are designed to be fragile but they were too fragile for me). I haven't seen a Bear Razorhead fo 4-5 years, at least.  IT appears to me the Magnus Stinger (2-blade) is better built and that's what I'm planning to use this year. This is my first year back to traditional in a very long time.  I shot many varieties of multiple blade broadheads with my compounds when I stopped using the Bears. I really like the 3-blade G-5 Striker with my compound but I'm going to be using mid-40# recurves to hunt with and I'm afraid to use anything but 2-blade broadheads.

I LIKE the older "greenie" Bear Razorheads better then the stainless ones.  To me they were/are more durable.  I found that the stainless steel Razorheads with the aluminum ferrel would bend and sometimes the main blade would get "loose" in the ferrel.  I also used to shoot (and still do) my broadheads alot.  Nothing helps build up ones confidence by shooting the EXACT arrow/broadhead combo that you are going to use hunting.  Many, many years ago I discoverd that field points and broadheads that are listed as the same weight don't always have the same point of impact.  The Bear Razorheads ("greenies") have always been one of my favorite broaheads.

I use the greenies and the bleeder blades.  I prefer them over the stainless and over most other broadheads out there.  If you have any you want to get rid of please PM or email me.

I prefer the green ones over the SS. I also dislike the bleeders. Had a SS Razorhead roll the point when it struck the opposite shoulder on a Texas whitetail. Killed the critter but I never forgot the look of the point. I have a cache of about 60 old green heads. When they go I'll switch to the Ace Standard. Just like that old line construction.

Stainless steel has nickel in it, making them softer than the old greenie.

Baaam! With that said Bowmania, I have a thread on here about some greenies I was planning on putting to good use and now I am sure to do it. Thanks for posting this thread and the info.

I have killed many deer with the stainless version but 3 years ago I had a arrow hit shoulder joint or knuckle and the  stanless broadhead was bent went to other heads got some greenies I can get them scary sharp might try them...
