Thier really is no off season for me.I shoot year round.I like to stay fit. That always makes hunting more enjoyable and easier.I am still doing the same things at 48 that I was doing in my 20s.

When the season gets close I choose a bow and bowquiver.I shoot that bow almost exclusivly till the hunting season is over.I set it up to be as quiet as possible and tune some arrows and get everthing perfect with the unit.I get 4 arrows set up as perfect as possible to fill the quiver.Razor sharp broadheads are a high priority.

Double check the portable treestands I will use and tweak them as necessary to be as quiet as possible.Check the cables, bolts etc. to make sure everything is safe.

Arrange gear in my packs etc to be quiet for foot travel.

Scout out the treestands for different winds with more setup with the prevailing wind in mind.

Make sure the clothes are ready and boots and knives are sharp and just keep practicing with more shooting from elevated positions as well as unusual ground positions in awkward stances that we we often get froze in when game is close.

Thats about it in a nutshell.

What a helpful thread this is. Along about this time every year I come in from shooting my bow in the 100 degree temps here in North TX, turn the air conditioner on full blast, and watch a little of the British Open. That Scotland weather is usually cool, rainy, windy, gray skies, etc. and seeing it is a promise of Fall for me. Have done that for years now, and it jump starts me into thinking and planning for our October 1st whitetail opener here in TX. Now I hear this year Scotland has had North TX Summer weather, with highs expected around 100! Good timing on this thread, you can't read through it and not get pumped for the Fall, thanks for all the good ideas.          :archer:
