sick of the usps

I didn't ask the question never-the-less I thank you for the advice Killdeer.  I don't have any issues with our local Postal people.  They are friendly and helpful.  I see them as fellow victims (if that's not too harsh of a word) in a messed up system.  In fact, I'm sure that their frustration is greater than mine - as is your's - at least for today       .  As a person that works with the public and usually gets the complaints that are due someone else, I sorta feel your pain.  I appreciate all that do their best regardless of whatever situation they are in.  As for bowhunting related, I forgot to include in my post that most of what I have need to ship is bowhunting items (bows, quivers and accoutrements), thus making them more precious than ordinary business items   :D   - and I still prefer USPS.  Wish we had someone like you on up the ladder calling the shots Killie.

Killdeer, I don't think anyone was blaming you for the shortcomings of the USPS.  I would bet there are some UPS and FedEx workers on here as well and I don't think it is completely out of line for a person to share their woes with any of the big three shipping choices.

I am sure you are a very good mailmaam and take your job seriously, but the fact is not everybody does.  In any profession, there will be those who strive to do good work and those that could care less about anything but the paycheck.  Unfortunatey, the bad ones are the ones that give everybody a bad rap.

I have had nothing but good luck with usps. The only time I had a slow delivery was at Christmas time and with the time of year I was not disappointed. On the other hand I have had somethings delivered by ups that looked like they had been thru a war.  Ben

I gotta say I never bother with priority mail.  I had a few packages take six days and they wouldn't refund the difference in shipping.  I send everything parcel post and guess what?  They not only have all shown up in perfect condition, they get there in the same time frame as the priority mail packets.  They must all fly on the same plane or go on the same truck out of the local post office to the local hub and then onwards at the same times.  I have had a lot of knives and tomahawks delivered across the country in two days when shipped parcel post.  

I like the USPS and Killie too.  Thanks for you hard work Killie.

I have to say that I've had good luck with timely delivery and no damage. And the lowest cost. I guess now and then one takes a little longer.

The USPS tracking however really stinks. That's pretty useless. I don't think it never moved actually. Just not tracked right.

I read these rants about USPS and just don't get it. I ship about 1000 packages a year by Priority mail. Most are long cardboard boxes with bows and arrows in them. In more than 5 years; USPS has never lost a single package! In the U.S., they have never broken a bow.

Most of the time, when I get a call that the package is late; it is at their post office, and a delivery was attempted, but the customer wasn't home. Other problems have been due to an incorrect address number. It's suprising how many people don't know their correct address!

I wouldn't waste my time using any other shipper.

I have tried them all-many times over. I have been back at the USPS now for about a year and no complaints. Sometimes there is a line and the attendants are chatty so it takes longer and I have become a bit chatty myself in the process. No more crusty old fart, just old fart. Yay USPS!!

My first chioce for shipping, & absolutely no issues with the rare claim.

On line tracking at the USPS site never worked for me.

Go to the PO in person with the tracking number provided by the seller & ask the agent there to track the number for you. They'll tell you where your package is.

If you're not treated properly as Killdeer said, tell them you want to see the postmaster.
She's right on about the Postal Police too!!!

I'm almost 60.  I have never had a problem with the USPS.  Lost a few items back in the day with the Pony Express, but since that new fangled USPS no probs.

I've only had one letter get lost for 2 months with the USPS in my lifetime and I'm now 60 years old. It finally arrived so we figured it got lost in the machinery. As for shipping bows and other bulk items, I've never had a problem with the USPS. I live in Texas. A few weeks back, I sold my one-piece 68" hybrid longbow to a person on here who lives in northern Illinois. The bow made it without any damage in three days time. I had it where the person had to sign for the bow. So, even if a bow gets delivered to the wrong address, there is a written signature (with address) the post office can go back and trace if misdelivered.

I have had ZERO problems with the USPS and have sent and recieved a great deal of bows over the years.

Had a few get there late but always got there and always intact.

I only ship/receive USPS now a days! Top notch in my experiences! Like someone else said, I never really bother with the priority, just send it 1st class and be patient!

The USPS is like every other business it lives and dies by the actions of it's employees. My PO is fantastic. Everyone knows everyone in my town. It's like living in green acres here (the ole tv show).

Now UPS is another story.

I can't talk about all the bazillions of employees in their system, but the guy that actually delivers my mail and packages in my neighborhood is top notch. Got my last bow without a blemish on the outer packing. I guess it depends on the people, like so many other things.
