waiting stinks!
« on: July 23, 2010, 10:15:00 PM »
So...why is it I can hunt quietly and patiently for days on end, but when I'm waiting for a new bow to come in the mail, I get completely impatient?  :knothead:

Man, join the club. I only had 5 weeks to wait on my LC, and it seemed like forever. Actually had dreams about it, being my first custom and all.

I'm officially a bow nerd.  :)

Yep, waiting sucks. I had a 12 week waiting period on mine, that was 8 months ago. Still waiting.

Y'all are making my point for me wonderfully! I bought a Dye recurve from Rick J, he mailed it Tuesday, and it should be here tomorrow. That's only a 3 day wait...and I'm on pins and needles!   :help:      :D    This is almost as bad as my mare foaling 6 weeks late this spring!

I waited about 6 weeks for one when Chris first started Habu, but I had several other bows I was messing with at the time, so the wait wasn't too bad.   "[dntthnk]"

Well, I hope you absolutely love your bow when it arrives. I'd probably be in a white jacket and incarcerated in a rubber room if I had to wait that much past the expected delivery date.

Mines 5 weeks over due after waiting 12 weeks and I've decided I don't even want the damn thing anymore. Probably just an over priced piece of crap any way.

What does the bowyer say is the reason for delay? I have 2 bows on order and one is delayed because of my choices (specific woods, specific grip,) the other one I would expect to be on time.

It's not due to my choices in this case. The Bowyer is a stand-up guy and has kept me informed, to some extent. I would never bash him. I expect he's taken on a lot of other things lately and misjudged how much time it would leave for actually building bows. Stuff happens. I had hoped to take it to Denton Hill since I ordered it first of the year. I lost interest in Denton as a result. In future when I order a custom it'll be from BamaBows. With a three week or so wait, even if it goes over by three times the estimate I'll have it in reasonable time. Buying used gets it in a week or so.

Order from Howard Hill Archery--you get it almost before there's a space cleared on the wall....well, almost  :goldtooth: .

Thanks for the Head's up David. I have been at their site recently drooling over visions of a 2pc Big Five, or Wesley Special, the Cheetah's are sweet too, and that Half-Breed... well, you get the point. I expected they had a long wait, nice to know different.

I'm going to take a break from waiting and from posting. My Dale Dye Medicine Point arrived today, so I can't be sitting around in front of a computer!  Thanks to Rick J aka BighornTN for a quick, smooth transaction!  :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:

Danny, wait time is generally 3-6 weeks.  I have never had to wait six weeks--got two bows in 3 weeks each and the last one took all of about five.
Here she is--68" Big Five string follow with gray glass and ebony riser--48#@28".

David that's a Beauty! The Gray Glass is a nice touch, and that grip looks just right. I've been curious about String Follow Bows. How does it compare to a similiar bow built without it?

Andy, have fun shooting that new bow. We'll be here, WAITING!! Lol!

You know the old saying "Patience is a virtue" and it has it's rewards in a perfectly crafted custom bow that will provide many years of service and enjoyment. I think that too many times we find ourselves wanting handmade, custom bow quality in machine made, production bow delivery times! Waiting is tough and it's hard to resist bugging the crap out of the bowyer to get it done, but I will never do that because I want him to take whatever time he needs to ensure that my bow is as perfectly crafted and fitted to me as he can possibly make it....if that takes time then so be it! My Sunset Hill is hands down the best Hill bow i've ever owned! Is it perfectly crafted and fitted to me - yep; was it worth the year wait - ABSOLUTELY!!

SpankyNeal--Couldn't sum it up better than that. It's just nice to vent sometimes. Your new Sunset Hill is an awesome bow. I know I'll cherish mine equally when it arrives and the wait will be forgotten.
