Vermont Longbeard
« on: May 12, 2007, 12:11:00 PM »
Took my best VT turkey ever this am.  He came on the run to a strutting tome decoy.  I have been working on this bird for over a week.  11 yard shot.  Used a string tracker for the first time but he dropped on the spot and it wasn't needed.  I have  been trying for a bunch of years to kill a mature tom in VT with my bow.  21 lbs.  1 1/4 in spurs 10 inch beard.  I am a tired but happy guy right now.  http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m14/p143297/DSC02136.jpg

Nice bird Steve! Did you get him near home or down near your Dad's?

Not yet Steve. Little League is killing me. We've got Saturday games now. I'm still after turkeys. I went out yesterday afternoon to set my blind up for Monday morning. Schafer and I had some coming in on youth weekend but we got nailed by a hen that snuck in.
