BW and TT help
« on: July 25, 2010, 05:00:00 AM »
I've shot the Black Widow PCH but have no way of trying a Tall Tines.  I read so many great things about both that I can't decide on either.  I'm looking for someone who owns both to give me some help.  I'm  Looking at the BW PCH 56" and the TT 16" riser and 58" overall. My draw is 27"  Thank you!

I don't own any BWs, but I have shot a bunch. I do not like their grip.  The TT grip fits my hand perfectly and what really sets it apart is the locating feature on the backside for your fingers.

For me, it rarely tuns out well for me when I buy a bow that I have never shot before. Sometimes yes, but rarely. I wouldn't make a decision until I shot one somehow. Call Brian and check on a loaner or try to find one close by. Good luck.

Just got back from Denton Hill and saw Brian and his beautiful Tall Tines.  WOW!  I shot a 58" 56# recurve that smokes an arrow.  I've shot both but for me it would be a TT.   :archer2:

You have to shoot them both.  I have shot the PCH a few times now.  I like the BW standard grip a lot, and love the low grip.  I have shot a TT once.  I liked that grip a lot also, but once is hard to judge for me.  I plan to shoot the TT again when I get a chance, and hope to shoot the new TT TD LB also.

Shot the TT this weekend and really liked his recurve limb design but his finish could be better. The grip wasn't to my taste but not as bad for me as others.
Widow,
Well you get the BEST custumor sevice in the bizz and for me,their asbell grip worked very well.Never any problems w/ fit and finish.
I own niether but would lean towards the Widow.

I presently own several Black Widows and have shot BW for a long time with good succes. Recently I made some strings for a TT and shot it quite a bit while tweaking string length and now there is no going back for me. My number should be coming up soon on the TT build list, and possibly before long it may be the only recurve that I own as I need to thin down some as it is.
Lefties are the only ones who hold the bow in the right hand.

I haven't tried a TT either but own a few widows also. the BW you can either get one of the three grips they offer or for a little more you can send them a bow you like the grip on and they can duplicate it for you on the new bow. BW's customer service is great and think you would be very happy with them.

Just sold a Widow and have a TT on order.  You'd be happy with either but disapointed with the length.  Longer is better.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.  Well I e-mailed Brian regarding inquiring about a loaner or test drive.  I hope he does this as there is no one in the area with a Tall Tines that I can find.

I have no experience with TT.  Widow is top notch in every way for me. I have bought, sold, and traded many different customs over the years and ALWAYS come back to my widows. You would be very happy with the widow...and who knows...save a bit and get the TT too!    :goldtooth:
