What new or new-to-you have you tried and what worked and what didn't(and why)???

I ask this in an attempt to save us all some time, effort and money.

One thing I tried this year is the gadget attachment from 3 Rivers and it works fantastic. I've used it for my on-the-bow blind and for my fishing set-up.

I also tried some camo tape to cover a bow during turkey season and I won't ever do that again. I couldn't keep the stuff on the bow the way I wanted it to so I tried the snake skinz from Alaska Bow Hunting Supply and loved them. They were easy to put on and transferable from one bow to another.

What have you tried?

I try not to spend any more money because I own too much stuff already!  :(  Not in the way of "gadgets" but lots of arrows and bows... Anyway...

Don't know if this answers your question but the best (thing) I've gotten hold of is the Stu Miller Dynamic Spine Calculator. Helped my shooting ten fold. Now I use the RIGHT weight up front on all my arrows. Talk about an eye opener!

dont know if this implies but,had to sell alot of stands hunting clothes and bows for medical,pharmicutical,and how special people really are when they are down and out.....dont glue in nocks on carbons use a wal mart or other plastic bag if they come loose...

After trying different sharpeners,mostly cheap carbide types,I broke down and got myself a KME last year for my broadheads.It was a good move and my heads and bleeders mow hair when they are done.
I have a pair of those Limb Skins too,Mudd,and you're right.
Haven't tried it myself stevewills but hear teflon tape works good too.

Hi All,

From the early 1970's until a couple of years ago I hunted with a Kodiak Magnum (50# @ 28") with wood arrows.  My Kodiak was damaged in a moving van, and I now have a Tomahawk (50# @ 28") and I've got four dozen new wooden shafts in the shop waiting to become arrows for my new bow.  Summer project !!

I`ve been a recurve shooter from the start. However, you know that feeling.?!

The Great Northern advertisement on back cover of TBM, shows a simple yet beautiful Bushbow.
I was drawn to it.

Finally got one, from here on TGang. 61 lbs 64".
I have a long draw so it ends up around 66lbs.

I am shocked at what a pleasure it is to shoot.
I gobbed a bunch of weight to the end of some long carbons I have, and they fly fantastic. Put simply, "it works". I think it works so well for me because I like it.

Your attempt at saving money is honorable, but the time and effort you put into it is why you like it so much. Come to think of it, I highly recommend trying a Bushbow...and that ain`t saving money either!  :D

Asbell quiver.  Too cumbersome and doesn't protect fletching or hold arrows tight enough.  A real pain in tight cover.  Can't beat an Arrowmaster.
String leach string silencers.  The old rubber ones work better and last longer.  Not to mention cheaper.
Kustom King synthetic shooting glove.  Love the release, but blew out the middle finger in two weeks.  Waiting to see if they replace it.

I've used all of the following for the first time this year.

-Fletching tape -- love it.
-Damascus glove -- it is great.
-Beeman MFX Classic Shafts -- toughest I've used.
-Easton Digital Bow Scale -- Accurate and useful

....pull a sassafras root out of the ground bend it a few times and rub on you for a cover scent..its free ...smells good and deer like it. Put the root out where you think deer might pass. I had deer stop and smell it ...just a thought ... Jeff p.s. If you don't get a deer you can take it home and make some great tea !!! Yum !

I tried a set of Terry's gals hush puppies and bow hush. Best stuff I've used on a recurve.

 Youngs feather burner, wish I'd tried one years ago.

 New style chuck for my Bohning crester. Much better than the old grommet.

I agree, Hush puppys and Bow hush. I put a set on my Dale Dye. Its as quiet as any longbow I have shot.

Also a Kwik Lok arrow holder. The thing is a life saver when you are sitting in a tree stand in cold temps.

String nocks have always driven me nuts, just don't like em, so wierd as I can be for along time I've used masking tape wrapped around my string right above  where I place my arrow instead of a nock, and it works great!

Also got a rinehart 18-1 target, I shoot mostly broadheads, and could not ask any more of a broadhead target.

3 rivers has a few different kinds of limb protectors, and I find the soft rubber type that come in tan, dk brown or drab green to work much better than the better looking extra hard rubber, almost plastic type, they are so hard sometimes they pop off at the shot and I can't find them, I quit using those in place of the soft rubber ones mentioned above.
