Anyone else have any experience with hemp for a back pack?  I am going to order the FTE and was thinking wool, but the weight had me thinking.  Any thoughts?  thanks

As a pack material, I can't comment, but I have a pair of hemp shorts that are pushing 8 years old.  They are just plain rugged, yet comfortable.  Nothing wears like hemp (pun intended).  That would be an excellent choice.

Todd,

The weight is a bit lighter than the heavier camo wool, and way stronger.  I've also got a Lemhi in the hemp and use it for mtn. lion hunting cuz I can break down my bow and have my arrow tube strapped on...sometimes we're out there a while.

If and when I get another it will be of hemp, hands down my favorite material for a pack.

I'm not sure if Ang has any more hemp but it is extremely easy to find online and you'll need about a yard and a half of fabric so don't be afraid to supply your own material.  A lot of times the distributor will send out free samples.  The only problem is I can't remember the weight/yard.  It might be around a 15 oz.  Also you may want to dye the material before a pack is made because the hemp I received was very pale in color.  I hope this helps, feel free to call me at 406.544.5208

Thanks fellas.  When I get back to the states I will get one ordered in Hemp.  Unfortunately, by the time I can get it ordered I probably won't get it by hunting season this year, but it will be worth the wait.  Thanks for all the advice.
