String for a widow
« on: July 27, 2010, 01:57:00 PM »
Hey guys I want to try some different string material for my Black Widow MAIII 55lb recurve, I am currently shooting a stock Dynaflight 97 flemish string and can't seem to tame the string slap no matter what I do. Any thought on a quiet perfomance string that does'nt stretch? I am planning on making an endless loop string. Thanks

I bought strings for my BW PMA from SBD strings here on TG!

They are awesome(infact I now use them on all my bows)

I have tried 450+ and 8125 on my bows,I find that some bows like a particular string type over another. The 450+ has no creep and 8125 has very little if any.Haven't tried any other types other then D97.I make my own strings and like to play around with them on differnt bows to find which works best for them.

I had the same experience with one of my BW and the skinny D97 made it a much quiet bow.For some reasons my other BWs are very quiet with the factory skinny and they are almost 10# heavier.

Kenny, I am crazy serious about this.  I have tried almost every kind of material in every string count to tame it. Bottom  line a SBD bowstring, and Bowhush from Terry Green................The quietest widow you never heard. I shoot a 60# 58" SAII with a 10 strand string.  Good luck.

I like an 8 strand Astroflight by Brownell on mine.Bowhush works very well wrapping the string ends and on the string.

you guys with the SBD strings, did you have any problems with the loops being too big?  I always have that concern when ordering anything but stock strings for my Widows.  Thanks...Mike

Mike,SBD made them exactly the same as my stock Widow strings. One word of caution make sure the length is exactly what you want.In D10 there is NO stretch.
