Cody had this to say in a newspaper interview with John Stanley - Jun. 10, 2010 in The Arizona Republic:

Although scenarios were based "on real crappy things that happen to real people," Lundin is aware that most viewers just want to be entertained. And that's perfectly OK.
"I think a good educator is an entertainer," he said. "If people aren't being entertained, they're not learning. That's what I try to do with my books and survival courses. People see this hippie with no shoes and it gets them engaged."
And although he hopes some viewers may pick up a few tidbits of survival knowledge, he said the show isn't meant to be an instructional video.
"It's (expletive) TV," he said. "It's entertainment. If you want to learn survival skills, you need to get your butt up off the couch and get outside and train with someone knowledgeable."

Yep, I can sure hear the bush hippie saying that, he tells it like he sees it.

“Dual Survivor” is to me both entertaining and educational. And as an added bonus, watching it is just one more thing I can do with my 20 year old son who usually is focused on girls and gasoline. Last weekend at Cabelas I think we found that cool knife Dave uses, and my son was dropping some big time hints that his current blade was pretty wimpy compared to the survival Gerber. He even quoted Crocodile Dundee saying “Now THAT’s a knife!”

My six year old and I watch the episodes often, top notch on the DVR!

I started out disliking Cody but now I really like him.

Based on reading their interaction they both see the others faults, but have deep respect for each other.

Great show with two guys I hope I am able to learn from in person one day with my boys...

The shows are very educational. I just wish they wouldn't play us like idiots. I know they need ratings and all.
That last show in the Northwest Territory was just way to staged for me. They just so happen to find a bottle and a perfect shaped antler point to knap an arrow head. All the while carrying a bow with no arrows...hmm Then throw in a turkey tied to a stake to shoot.

A lot of the people that watch the show probably ARE "Idiots", as far as outdoor skills and knowledge are concerned. Not everyone spends as much time as most of us do outdoors. The show just may get some of them interested in learning about these things and get them off their couches. The bottle and the knapping I believe were just to leave the impression that someone that may find themselves in a bad spot needs to constantly be looking for items that can be used. In that case one man's garbage was another's arrowhead. It could also have become a knife edge if needed. I know it's got me looking to get a book on knapping to find out what tools I need and how to get started in it. I planned to do it some day anyway, this just kick-started me. I saw something interesting on the "Man Woman Wild" also. The guy brought swamp water to enough of a boil to purify it in a typical plastic water bottle. I never would have thought it, and will be trying it for myself to confirm. One little bit of info, even to an experienced outdoorsman could make all the difference some day. Bottom line is though, it is educational AND entertaining, more than can be said about most stuff on TV these days, which is why I threw mine in the trash almost 9 years ago. If it ain't on YouTube, I can't watch it.

Watched about 15 minutes - enough to realize it was just another staged "reality" show and a good reason to consider harder cancelling the dish.

Cody and Dave are the real deal.  Put in "what if" situations they entertain us.

Owlbait, you may have something there. I have been feeling a little "testosterone challenged" lately. Might be too long without a Remote in hand. Lol! Actually, I can't get cable as I live on a Sailboat, regular TV sucks, and I don't really have enough time to watch it to fool around with satelite and such.

LIVE ON A SAILBOAT???  that must be fun . . .

In all honesty who cares if it is staged, it is entertaining, and they both know what they are talking about.  It was cool to see Dave knap that bottle!

Well, apparently some of us care if it was staged. I don't envy that sailboat living, to susceptible to motion sickness. Even had some problems on Uncle Sam's Big Gray Boats. I did like the arrow building and knapping sections and the shelter as previously stated. The suggestion that shooting the turkey would be hard to duplicate I challenge ONLY if the turkey was not wild, free ranging, and not under the influence of restraints.

How many of you guys have successfully restrained a wild turkey? Apparently I am missing something here.

It might be harder to restrain one than to shoot one that is restrained  :bigsmyl:  Could it have been a "domesticated" wild bird that was put there, and restrained for the show? I can see your willing to retract your original statement so I will retract my offer to send the crow pie recipe  :bigsmyl:

1...you could see the turkey dragging the rope when he was chasing it
2...the so called spruce tree was in fact a douglas fir tree.
3...when you're lost you follow water downstream to civilization and not risk crossing for no apparant reason.
if they are going to make a show they need to make it real, not staged and for gods sake at least get the trees right.just my observations.

This show is great. Much much better than all other shows out there. For sure i hate Man vs Wild show.
Will you eat that? If not, why did you kill it?
