Crane Texas / 7th age Question
« on: August 01, 2010, 06:32:00 PM »
I'll be hunting out there in Feb 2011. I know the bugs won't be out, but what about snakes? Any info will be helpful.

The rattlers might be out in the heat of the afternoon in Feb, if there is unseasonably warm weather, but doubtful. It might be 70-75 degrees...and it might be 20!

You are probrably safe in the mornings for sure. but like andy said, if you are having unreasonably warm weather watch the rodes and where you tred!!!!! I have killed 2 rattle snakes with my longbow. each of which i have almost stepped on out in the brush. So snakeboots is always a good comfortable option!! Good Luck!!!! Clint

I'm looking to get either snake gators or chaps. This is why I'm asking. I'll be needing them for my hunts in East Texas and just wanted to know about Crane, TX.

Thanx for the replies.. I didn't want to send a email to CK since he is busy with everything he needs to do before going away for a few Months.

Again Thanx.

I have taken snake chaps with me to the last 4 Sweats.  Never put them on.   But now the wool, that is another story - it has been a little chilly the last couple years.
