Just got a set of prairie rattler skins today.  Gonna try and get them on my recurve limbs tonight.  Wish me luck...

I did a set last year and was pleased with hte installation except the finish, Min-Wax semi-gloss water based poly, turned a milky white after several months. What did I do wrong?

I think the hard part is over, taking the 150 grit paper to the limbs.  The rest is down hill from here.  Thanks for all the well wishes.  I'll be sure to post pictures when I finish.  My wife is so happy to have two recurve limbs sitting on her kitchen counter with skins drying on them!  Thanks guys.

"My wife is so happy to have two recurve limbs sitting on her kitchen counter with skins drying on them!".... Ha!!!

I'd have been sent packing so fast it would make my head swim...lol

If a snake, even a tiny garter snake crawled into our house we would just have to move because there's no way on God's green earth that she would continue to live there.

God bless,Mudd

Real quick before I go to work, I found/thought of a new way to remove the scales last night.  A lint roller!  It worked great.  Not only could I roll the tape across the limb but a little pressure also helped to smooth out the skin.  I did notice on the back side though that it picked the skin up a little causing little pockets of air.  Not to worry, grab your kids play-dough roller and smooth it out!  It's worth a try.

I have always used True oil as my top coat, apply by hand. I have also heard of others using Super Glue to lock everything down before the top coat. Lots of different methods out there,I look forward to seeing your results!!! Big Ed

That sounds like a great way to jazz up a bow that you have had for a while and cheaper than a new one.

I have Prairie Rattler on my Schafer 54# limbs.  I think you will be happy with them.  Pics when you are done!
