Need opinions - new bow

I am looking to add a bow, one with a lighter weight.

I shot an Allegheney Mtn longbow a few days ago.  43#@28".  It shot really well and the price was only $250.  It's not that pretty, but it shoots really well for me.  Granted, I shot indoors at 10 yards, but I shot about 80 arrows and had nice 6" groups.

I am also looking at a bow in the classifieds.  A LH Lost Creek.  About the same price and weight and a much prettier bow.  But
I haven't ever shot one.

Looking for opinions on both.

Mitch, stop into garden state bow and reel and see Dino he had a couple leftys on consignment.
I know one was a Hill and the other I can't remember.

I can't offer any insight on those particular bows. But, I did the same thing and went to a lighter bow last spring - have been tickled with the results.

A good looking bow is great, but crowded arrows in the bullseye...now that is pretty!

Depends what you want to do with it...if you want to admire the beauty on the wall and never shoot it or really work it in fear of scratching it get the lost creek.  if you want a workhorse you wont worry about beating up and is a performer get the mtn longbow.

i know for me i could care less what the bow looks like as long as its a shooter...i know my widows aren't adfraid of a little work and battle scars.  you can always get a bow refinished can't always get them to shoot well.

Thanks for the input.  I didn't mean to imply I wanted to buy a bow for looks alone.

I was more interested in how the Lost Creek shoots.  Both bows are about the same price and the Lost Creek is more traditional and nicer looking but I don't know how they shoot.

I suppose I really need to shoot one.

Don't let the limb shape fool you. Those Allegheneys are some shooters!

Get a look at the limb shapes on some of the Black Swan's. Looks familiar doesn't it?

I'd really like to try a Lost Creek myself though. Really high marks.

Mitch, I can vouch for the Lost Creek. Very smooth, accurate shooter, good arrow speed at my 10.7 gpp, and shoots a variety of spines well. I love mine. Pretty, yes, but sturdy and a performer too, and a great grip.

If you are going to decide between bow you have held and shot and one you have not - it's simple - buy the one you have held and know you can shoot. Other peoples opinions will not make it fit/shoot for you.

Check out White Wolf Legend series longbows. They sell for under $300.

Good looking bows are nice......The ugly ones, if they shoot who cares what they look like.My old Bear Montana with it's camo paint and ugly sister looks shoots as good as any bow I own ....and I got a bunch!!!

I think your looking at the wrong bows,there is a beauty of a Shrew in the adds.

Well, I went back and shot the ADK Mtn.  And then I bought it.

I named it "Uma" after Uma Thurman who, like this bow, I look at and sometimes can't decide is she's pretty or not.
